Hi! I need to digitize some Japanese tapes. For that I decided to buy a Japanese player (shipping from Japan is cheapest for me).
I've been trying to find JVC players, but there aren't many on sale. But I found some Panasonic models which seem to be good:
NV-SX5xx
NV-SB6xx.
NV-SB7xx

These players have a TBC and a 3D comb filter.
Does anyone know how good these players are?

The mentioned model numbers are Panasonic camcorder ones ?

Using a (Japanees) Panasonic vcr/recorder model that has the VHS refresh feature, and a good pro-sumer converter that can be set to the NTSC IRE 0 (NTSC-J) setting would be nice.
Using SDI/HDMI recorder, or input SDI/HDMI PCI card to store it in file format

No, these are not camcorders. Panasonic has many models of s-vhs players from the late nineties. For example nv-sx505, nv-sb606, nv-sb707, nv-sx550...
I couldn't find any information on these devices other than the specs on the panasonic website.

I have a good AJA capture card. It can record NTSC-J.

Bought the NV-SB660 for $30 at a yahoo auction. I will post sample videos when I get it to evaluate the image quality.
