Thanks for all the info. I get it now, I don't find you harsh or anything, you have knowledge no doubt in that, respect!

I bought it from vcrshop, hope that it won't scam me or something. I'll test that VCR from start like a boss, going digital on all VHS if it brakes or something within 30 days I'll contact them.

If you have any issues with it, he'll address it. But odds are you'll be fine.

Post a follow-up here in a few months.

Thanks for all the help man, appricate it alot!

Will do. I will first compare recordings that I did on my previous VCR with same settings to see if there is that difference that I want to see in picture quality and sound. I know a lot of that depends on VHS that recording was done, but from all that 10 tapes I am sure on one of that ten I will see some difference.

Audio depends on factors. It could be the same, better, or worse.

The video should be vastly better with the TBC turned on. Turn on B.E.S.T., disable calibration and 3R.

One more question. Should I connect while digitalizing my VCR with S-video and 2 rca or composite cables ?

"RCA" = stereo audio (red + white cable)

composite = video Y+C smushed/composited together (yellow cable)

s-video = separated video, because Y/C is separate Y (luma) and C (chroma red + chroma blue), the DIN cable

s-video = best, always use when available, sometimes upgrade gear when not available. Yes, it can make a huge difference. (Not necessarily because composite is intrinsically bad, but because implementation sucks 00%+ of them time, noisy lossy video signal is the result.)

I got my VCR today from vcrshop...

Look at the condition it came. Plus shop send me the wrong VCR I order S7960E and I got S7950E...I already contact them and they apologize and stuff like that, but what I got from that, nothing. I work all day, and now I have to waste my time and to send it back to them, and I don't have time for that...

Not happy with this purchase at all.

Is there any difference between those two models ?

I see only front mask of vcr is different is there anything else if you know ?

The 7950, 7960, and 7965 are all essentially tthe same. I wouldn't too loudly complain about that. Condition matters more than actual model, when selecting from comparable suggested models.

On these specific models, the side screws essentially screw into plastic, and typical shocks and vibrations of shipping transit can cause them to loosen or come out. Even when new, direct shipping from the manufacturer, these "defects" (not really defects) could exist. People complained about that 20+ years ago already.

It's one thing to have legitimate complaints about actual problems, but resist the urge to become "a karen" crying over unimportant details.

Did you even test the VCR yet?

So there is some difference or ? As I see only aesthetics on front plastic but don't know about tehnology do you know maybe more I can't find any info. on internet about two models to compare.

I test it with only one tape didn't have time yesterday. Package came late yesterday and I work in the morning. Picture and sound is outstanding never seen better picture in my life on VCR to be honest. I test same cassette on previous vcr and this one and difference is huuuuge. And I didn't even enable those options that You suggest me yet.

Is the VCRShop warranty sticker intact? My VCR from them was opened by customs and put back together and repacked poorly.

It wasn't open, sticker is intact.

I just don't have luck with this vcr

Did the test a bit. Same tape on different vcr working normal from start to the end no interruptions.

On this vcr

- 1st attempt from the start video stutter from time to time and sound constantly breaks.
- 2nd attempt same cassette from the start it runs normal and almost at the end of cassette video starts to break every few seconds and sound along with video. I record the video and will send it vcrshop, not happy at all :/

EDIT:
Sending it back to vcrshop they will send me the right one that I actually order and check it before shipping and service if needed.

From the brief sample, that may be a cyclical error from a damaged head. This may be a simple issue of the wrong deck being sent after all.

Well seller seems ok, so I will send it back, and they will send me the right one. I told him to check that one up before shipping and if it needs service to service it.

-- merged --

I send back the vcr, and seller told me that he sent the right one now. But didn't send the tracking number...

Also he avoids my question few times now, if he tested that one before shipping like he said he would, and if service was needed serviced it.

-- merged --

Funny, he reply in the morning just tracking number, still avoiding my question...Hope this vcr that I actually bought work as it should. Cause for now this was just big waste of my time.

You need to wait for it to arrive, see how it performs, etc.

He's a person, not Amazon Prime. Perhaps he only had moments to type the reply?

Did you drown him with an essay? Or a wall of text?
Or was it a short email with several numbered questions?

Perhaps you need to email him a reminder?
Or perhaps he thinks you're harassing him, and he wants to have minimal interaction?

Lol I know he is not amazon prime, but I asked few times and without answer, but he answers other question that I asked. Clearly avoiding to answer this one.

Here is what I asked, and second time even shorter but no answer. It would be ok if he said I checked it, everything is ok or something...
Can you please check that new vcr before sending if it's not a problem, if it needs some service please service it. Thanks.

this was my last message I sent for that
did you test it before shipping, any service needed ?
