Picked up a complete U matic-editing rigg from an estate, and this unit was included. It is of course only composite, but a very heavy piece with big heat dissipators. The only info I've managed to find is that it's Italian made. Could it be of use for anyone part from the guys at the scrapyard?

Never heard of those, but is probably more uniquely suited to U-Matic which is composite only and this appears to have dropout compensation as well which is mainly used in U-Matic setups. Some of the unknowns are what the chroma subsampling and bit depth are. It's kind of hard to say for sure without putting certain test patterns through it.

If you're located in the USA, I'd probably be willing to buy it off of you just to play around with. I'd hate to see it get scrapped. Definitely isn't something I "need", so if anyone else wants it, I'd prioritize getting it to them instead of me.

I do also see this is 220V which is something to keep in mind as well.

I don't think there's anything "Italian" about that TBC. But it was common to have European rebranding of TBCs, often under the names of broadcast/filmmaker gear suppliers.

It's clearly a U-matic TBC, and it's not even worth attempting for VHS/etc. Use it with the U-atmci deck you bought.

- For sale in the marketplace: TBCs, workflows, capture cards, VCRs

Unfortunately I reside in Sweden, otherwise you'd get it for a pint of beer.

I might as well use the Datavideo TBC:s I already have since they're always wired to my capture cards. Don't know if it makes any difference that the TBC:s output S-video when the input is composite. I believe not.
