I have one PAL VHS tape I'm hoping to import... I just have a NTSC VHS deck with a setup to import to my computer, which has been working ok for NTSC tapes, but not this PAL tape. I can't find anyone I know with a PAL deck to borrow locally, so can anyone recommend a good service to do this for me? Thanks for any help or recommendations you can offer.

It depends on what it is. 99%+ of services won't get anywhere near retail tapes.

- Did my advice help you? Then become a Premium Member and support this site.
- For sale in the marketplace: TBCs, workflows, capture cards, VCRs

Ah, its not important to be SUPER high quality, it's a VHS tape dub from home camcorder stuff, just looking for a way to watch it on the computer and preserve it in some way

It might be less expensive to just get a PAL capable VCR. Main benefit to getting one of your own is that there's no risk of losing the tape itself in transit to and from someone else who would do it for you instead. I don't have any PAL VHS machines myself, otherwise I would offer to do it for you.

Thanks for the message! Yes, I agree, owning a PAL deck would be nice, but I can't justify it just for this one tape -- I barely have the space for the NTSC decks I own. I also wish you had a PAL machine, I appreciate the thought!

I have PAL decks. Do you want to send your tape up north?
Btw, you say the record is a dub. Does it mean you no longer have the original cassette?

Thank you very much for the offer. In simpler times I'd love to, but I'm honestly scared to send the only copy of this tape out of the USA thanks to all the chaos going on now with our customs and tariff stuff.

You can send it with FedEx/UPS. These guys are way more reliable than USPS/Canada Post.
And you don't have to worry about the US tariffs - they are only on import to US.
Though, it is still scary to let the tape out of your hands.
