Out of curiosity I'm wondering how much I just overspent on an ATI 600 USB from Ebay. Tell it to me straight

I didn't even see the offer button for some reason and didn't think the seller was allowing offers haha ugh. Spent 137$ +9$ shipping. It at least seems lightly used, has disc, all cables, manual and box.

the kicker is I don't even really need it! I'm currently doing my captures on an X1900 AIW XP Machine and I have a spare Hauppage Clone that LS sold me a few years back as my back up. But now I guess I have a back up for my back up.

Assuming, maybe big assumption, if this ATI 600 USB I just bought works well, is there any notable difference between it and those Hauppage clones?

anyhow I'm not going to sweat this too much. but afterwards I immediately felt like I maybe overpaid, especially since the VC500 is going for like 20$ oh well!

well ofc about 30 minutes later I find this https://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/mar...ati-600-a.html

I guess I just didn't look far enough down the marketplace page. Oh well, at least this shows, that assuming* the card works, then it's inline price wise. eh. live and learn.

Why did you gamble on eBay, when you could have bought a vetted card here on the marketplace for the same price?

The Hauppauge has more balance audio. ATI needs the registry hack.

The specific Pinnacles I have would have been an upgrade to the ATI/clones. Or the specific AIW USB if using XP. (Both of those cards have versions, you can't random buy those.)

VC500 is crap, $20 is about right for it.

Actual ATI 600 USB, assuming complete, fully working, no flaws, then you didn't overpay. Lots of assumptions. I prefer to know, not guess.

- For sale in the marketplace: TBCs, workflows, capture cards, VCRs

it's my fault. but I did In fact look at the Marketplace thread! just obviously not very well I too would have preferred a vetted card rather than a gamble.

I'll have to look into this audio issue you speak of and registry hack, thanks for the information.

Interesting hearing about the Pinnacles, those never registered as an option on my radar. it's usually all just AIW this, USB600 that, Clones sometimes, and of course in certain circles... "VHS decode is the future." Thanks again for the info.

and at least assuming it works, its good to know I didn't overpay from the get go. so I can live with this mistake. and hopefully have 3 options for future captures.
