I sent this message to lordsmurf originally but I guess rules say I must post publicly..

I was wondering if you could help me out a little. I am trying to convert some old family hi-8 video tapes. I have been reading in the forums and have been able to piece together some of what i need to do to make this happen. I have a CCD-TRV82 (has both TBC & DNR) and a Pinnacle DVC100. I am able to hook up to OBS just for testing purposes as I know my way around OBS. I have downloaded VirtualDub and intend on using it but have not been able to navigate through the settings as of yet. I also downloaded the recommended update for the Dazzle DVC100 provided on DigitalFaq. I am running into a couple of snags and was hoping you could shed some light with your knowledge and experience.
1. When I import through the dazzle I am not able to use the s-video output, only RCA for video. Is there another setting on the camera or using the DVC1000 im missing? I do not have anything else that inputs s-video and am not able to troubleshoot if it is the dazzle or not.
2. I am not seeing any audio out of the unit. The first time i hooked up I had audio, then the second time and everytime after no audio outputed from the RCA jacks. I intend on testing that on another input source (my TV) to see if it is the camera or the Dazzle.
3. I plan on converting to the highest possible resolution and the highest possible quality. File size is not a concern. Are there any recommendations for my inport settings?

I appreciate any help you can offer and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

I should mention that after my Hi-8 imports, I plan on moving to Digital 8mm imports, then to VHS imports. All of which I have a pile of waiting to be digitized.

Josh

Neither Dazzle nor OBS are quality items. Both will severely limit and downgrade quality, with the output looking worse than the original tape. Neither should be used here. Your expectation will not be met.

We need to get you into a better card, and using VirtualDub.

I don't see any PMs from you. This is first contact that I'm aware.

Make sure you select the proper audio input device in the capture app.
