I've been looking for es10 and es15 units to add to my workflow. If i'm using it as a passthrough, are there functions or settings I would not be able to access if the unit came without a remote or is everything I need available with just the buttons on the unit?

Input select button and menu. But you can use remote from later models.
This for example:

Or this, I believe, should work:

ES10/15 remote models can get screwy. Not all work, even when they should.

Or ES receiver can be faulty most likely. My experience with Panasonic remotes - if they has appropriate function knob, it works for all Panasonic devices. Input switch is essential. Menu - for switching between PAL/NTSC. Maybe there is secret combination of panel buttons to do it, but I do not know.

Ah, yes, I forget that.

A lot of these "doesn't include remote" Panasonic units, as soon as eBay/Facebook/etc, no longer work with any remotes. The receiver/eye was a common failure point on these units. This forum has seen quite a few of those type of posts going back 10-15 years now.

As always, random buying gear is so full of pitfalls.

@BmacSWA, I have an extra unit here, if you want to get it. (And I see eBay pricing now exceeds what I charge. Mine are modded or refurb'd, theirs are just random yard sale finds. Terrible. I guess ES10/15 is getting the SSD pricing treatment.)

I have a perfectly working ES10, except the IR sensor died many years ago. Has anybody replaced it; and if so, how difficult is it?
