Since my failed attempt to digitize my old Hi8 tapes with a Hitachi VM-610E (the one we recorded with) and a Elgato capture card I am now looking for a better one. These used Hi8 cameras are out on sale atm:

- Sony CCD-TR515E
- Sony CCD-TRV418E
- Sony CCD-TRV48E
- Sony DCR-TRV270E
- Sony CCD-TRV218E
- Sony CCD-TR2200E
- Sony DCR-TRV230E
- Sony CCD-TRV46E
- Sony CCD-TR350E/TR450E
- Sony CCD-TRV78E
- Sony DCR-TRV320E
- Sony CCD-TRV228E
- Sony CCD-TR805E

Are any of these good?

Watch attached file for the bad quality.

Attached Files
File Type: mov Hi8.mov (19.49 MB, 8 downloads)

You need a camera with line TBC. I have good experience with CCD-TRV99E, but there are more, simply search here for recommended camcorders. I believe you should replace your capture card with something better (Pinnacle 710-USB for example) and you need frame TBC too.

P.S. Here are recommended camcorders:

Looks like none of the recommended ones are for sale atm. Unless they are all US models that are listed there. Will look for a better capture card, is there any more recommended capture cards than the Pinnacle that I should be on the lookout for?
