Hello. I have a speedy 4 core machine.

Virtual dub during capture is reporting 45-90% CPU usage, so I opened task manager which is reporting 25-50% usage even on high update rate. Any ideas about the discrepency?

VirtualDub only uses one core. Some codecs like HuffYUV are multi-core to use 2.
Are you dropping any frames? If not, there isn't really anything to worry about.
Is this more of an academic question?

Well it wasn't but now it is.

There were dropped frames but not now. Thanks to some timing options listed in a prior thread, I now have no dropped frames! Finally. Will update the other thread with the correct (for me) settings and will report back if the new settings causes any audio sync errors.

Thanks!
