I'm sorry if there was something already asked like this but I'm looking for an external capture device to transfer my HD shows/sports programs as my DVR only records but won't allow me to export the recordings.

I just came across the Hauppauge HD PVR 1512, not the gaming edition, and it seems to be a good device. As I only have a laptop I read it will work with it as well.

I have a Pioneer DVD-R and I love it but I'm kinda spoiled with HD contents so I'm looking for an external capture device that can capture with higher resolutions and bitrate.

Does anyone know HD PVR 1512 or can give advice for other devices?

You can capture HD if you want, and the source is HD.

Just note that you cannot burn HD to DVD-Video, as it is 720x480/576 max. The sources can, however, be burned as data. To burn as video content, a Blu-ray burner will be required. You may know all this, but it was not mentioned, Figured I'd better mention it.

That should be pretty good hardware for HD capturing, but note that the included software is junk.

Thank you LS. Even though I knew most of the things you said it's quite good to be remembered.

I gotta give it a try and buy that Hauppauge.

Btw I was wondering whether you still work converting tapes to DVD. I have a single one giving me headache and it's a PAL one. Maybe I can send you a PM with more details?

Yep! Still doing VHS to DVD*. Use the Contact Us form for that. We can handle PAL.

* Or 8mm, Hi8, MicroMV, S-VHS, DV (and a few others I may be forgetting!) .. and addition to VHS ... to streaming formats (H.264, etc), uncompressed, lossless AVI (Huffyuv), Blu-ray ... in addition to MPEG-2 DVD-Video.
