Hey guys...back again...
OK, to refresh you all, I've got a JVC DR-MH30S. I'm recording shows o the HD and want to get them to my computer to edit.
I can "dub" from the HD to a DVD-RW easy enough, but unless I "finalize" the DVD I can't see those dubbed files. If I do "finalize," the DVD becomes a collection of VOBs instead of MPEG2 files.
So, do you guys know how I can "dub" and access the MPEG2 files directly, or is the only way to get at anything to "finalize" the DVD and edit via VOB files?
Tks loads...Tom

Use dvd-decrypter & mpeg-vcr to make the files into mpeg2.

Finalize to a DVD, stick disc in computer, rip in IFO mode in DVD Decrypter, edit in Wombe MPEG-VCR.

Guys...yet another question...
will MPEG-VCR allow me to split the files into episodes? because air times were consecutive, I recorded several episodes and/or shows together and need to split them apart and sort them in episode order.
Tks as always...Tom

Yes if you rip the recording as one long vob in Decrypter you can edit the entire thing in MPGVCR, we do it all the time for Saturday morning blocks
You edit the commercials out of the 1st episode, then edit the out marker at the end of the episode and save that, then undo the last step and instead of cutting out the other episodes you cut the previous one you were working on, if that does not make sense email me and I can give you more specifics but its not a hard thing to do, its just a bigger level of editing
