My intention is to capture VHS to
HuffYUV and eventually to MPEG2 for DVD burning, but I need a USB or Firewire based device.
It seems like the only USB capture card recommendation I can find on here is for the old ATI 600 USB devices. I'm just wondering if any of the "newer" USB cards (Hauppauge USB Live 2) are as good as the old, highly recommended ATI 600?
Is there anything inherently different about these USB capture devices?
Also, just to throw in the wildcard, I had also been considering the Canopus ADVC-110. But after reading here about colorspaces, I thought it might be best to go to lossless AVI as the first step instead of DV. But, to the average viewer of home videos on VHS, can you really see much of a difference going from VHS -> DV -> DVD vs. VHS ->
huffYUV -> DVD?
