Strange VirtualDub preview issue: chopped image?

Look at how the top of the left image is shown - not really sure how to describe or fix. Any suggestions?

Preview meaning playback, right?

It's screen tearing. There's at least one thread on VideoHelp discussing it (or I'm mixing together two different threads). You need to play around with the Preferences to see if you can make it work well with your graphics acceleration setup.

This isn't video "tearing" (timing error). It's some sort of digital error.
Perhaps "tearing" as well, but in digital/computer terms. I'm really not sure if that's the correct term here.
