Any way to transfer HD Mini DV using Mini DV camcorder?

I noticed when playing back HD Mini DV tapes the playback is blue so I would imagine that a Mini DV cannot playback HD mini DV even through a USB port on the camcorder?

Sorry, no.

That's correct, but USB has nothing to do with it. HD playback requires HD playback devices.

Canon has always made excellent gear. I've used their still cameras since the mid-1960's. But those camera work with film, which is far superior to anything digital, so I've never used a DV camera for video except to borrow a relative's Canon for an hour or so. I see that the HV30 handles both HD and SD, so it's a good chance it will work. Someone more familiar with such combo cameras should be able to advise. But note that DV is transferred to a computer by copying the original with a DV transfer device, not by "capturing" (re-encoding) it. But I guess you know this.

It should work fine. It's HDV, and that's what you need.
