So this is my main workflow...

JVC SVHS S9800U
Panasonic EH-75v as a TBC
Capturing with Hauppauge. I have both the 1212 and the gaming edition with HDMI inputs

I have several questions:
1) Is the Panny good enough as a pass-through TBC or should I purchase an external one like the AVT-8710?

2) Is there a VCR that will better handle EP/SLP tapes? This JVC absolutely hates them and the internal one on the Panny looks like this when I try to playback videos so I try not to use it.

3) Also...I capture Betacam SP tapes with my Sony J-1 as well. That machine actually has component outputs. Is there a reliable TBC that has component inputs?

4) I have a slew of u-matic tapes that are coming to me and I need to convert them reliably because they have priceless material on them. Would I need a TBC with that as well? Any thoughts on reliable machines I should be looking out for?

Any other suggestions?
