I'd thought I would offer a little insight.
I have some BetacamSP tapes, and have three SP decks, the BVW-D75 which has SDI, PVW-2800 and the Sony DVW-M2000 Digibeta which is backwards compatible with BetaSP tapes.
I bought all three decks off
Ebay...all in working condition with low hours (M2000) and had them serviced. The unique thing regarding the M2000 deck was that there was an optional HD upconverter board that I managed to find where it will upconvert the video to HD, up to 1080i.
This is the workflow I have....I use the AJA Kona LHi capture card for all my analog capture needs, and have no problem capturing the BetaSP tapes using the component connections. My setup is a bit more complex since I also have SVHS machines I also capture with, via SDI.
