AviSynth is very good software with many available filters for improving your VHS captures.

It entirely depends on what you want to improve. Some restoration is best in VirtualDub, most in Avisynth, some in other software. Samples needed, explanations needed. There is no general "improve quality", too many variables. But Avisynth does tackle most.

We need to know your set up (capture card, vcr, etc).

A small sample of the problems you're seeing would be helpful.

I know this part:

- JVC S-VHS with line TBC
- Cypress frame TBC (essentially green AVT-8710)
- Pinnacle 710

Samples still needed.
