Hello,
I've got my PAL Digital8 tapes transferred via iMovie as QuickTime MOV format DV. I've then compressed the individual files with HandBrake, all resulting files are constant 50 FPS MP4. I want to merge all clips from one tape to one file, which I do with MKVToolNix. I use it, because it also automatically creates chapters that are named after the filename which are named after filming date. However, resulting MKV file reports as variable frame rate in MediaInfo. When I merge the clips using Avidemux, it's constant at 50 FPS. If I force 50 FPS in MKVToolNix "Default Duration/FPS" setting, the resulting file is constant at 50 FPS, but audio gets out of sync progressively. See MediaInfo attachments below.
Is the variable frame rate an issue? Does anyone have any clue why this happens?
