Hi, I've read up some of the stickied thread about various JVC vcrs. I'm hoping the unit I recently purchased from eBay fits into one of the common issues, but I'm unsure which.

Attached to this thread should be photos of how the device was received (awful packing), a photo of the loading error, and two photos I snapped of the internals after taking off the top cover. I was looking for any obvious defects, either blown capacitors or anything that looked out of the ordinary, but nothing jumped out to me. I may need to remove more parts to get at the bottom board, but before doing that I figured I'd reach out here for help.

Is there anyone familiar with these units that might know either from the photos or some other procedure what might be wrong? Or know what to take better photos of to help? And if so is a fix relatively easy for a novice who has decent experience soldering but not much other analog video repair?

Focus on the main power board, back right, behind DVD drive, back of unit. Replace as much as possible, not just the electrolyte caps.

Appreciate it, I'll take a look at the youtube video.

I wasn't really anticipating having to do a full refurbish of the unit when I bought. If it requires replacing as many of the parts as possible I might just file a claim saying it was damaged in shipping and return it to the seller. Or look for a local reputable electronics repair shop.

I'll keep everyone updated and come back here for any more questions.
