I've never understood the desire to capture x486 instead of the standard x480. I realize x486 is for broadcast, but I doubt any of us need broadcast spec files. We all want to transfer video to other formats for enjoyment, not rebroadcast. And that's ignoring the fact that it's now the HD era, not the SD era, and I'm not sure anybody uses SD broadcast specs at all now.

This device only captures uncompressed AVI in that format, which I think is directed for the device's original target market. In many of the tapes I have captures there is a tiny bit of additional picture information that does show itself in those additional 6 pixels, but it's split between that and the blanking field which makes it negligible. For the purposes of using the device and not providing any other 4:2:2 options except for that resolution, I will take them and likely crop them out later, but there isn't any reason to keep it.
