This is the codec that should be adopted by EVD format (the official Chinese answer to HD-DVD) or the Blu-Ray standard, I do not remember well. It has performance comparable to M£ WM9.
But I never tested it.

I do
It is my favourite non MPEG codec, with pretty great result. I prefer it over DivX or XVID's. Only RV10 (or H.264 when completed) could go to competiotion with it.
As for one more great news, EVD standalone players are using VP6 for video. I've read somewere that they even thinking on inputing Vorbis as audio for this standard.
One more think: VP6 can be slow on "high quality" profiles, but on simple and fastest profiles it is still beter than slowest XVID.

Of course do not believe in all they wrote. 600kbps for fullD1 res is lowest for good quality, from my tests.

aaaa ... almost forgot. Theora is based on VP3, earliest build from ON2.

As for WMV9... please don't even mention about this s**t

@jorel
If you want to test it, do VCD res encode at 200kbps (two-pass)

Fortunately HD-DVD standard also contains MPEG-2 and AVC (aka H.264). Let us hope that we will be able to choose
