I checked TMPG and all is fine. I just unloaded all Divx and Mpeg4 codecs. I'll try again.

I used tok and now there is cqmatic. What is the difference? Tok calculate the good cq and make automatic gop. It is good?
And cq matic is using the gop of template and calculate the cq, but it does not adapt the gop.
Also, why use cq matic and no tok?
I think that I do not have to understand at all of Cqmatic.
What is the best for kvcd?

TOk has accuracy problems with PAL source and especially if you use the last MA script.

CQMatic purpose is to reach a 2% error target whatever the source and the script used.

thanks,
I am using kvcd for dvd rip and capture for 1-2hours. I think that i can use KVCD-CQ-352x576-_PAL_-PLUS.mcf for my encode with a good script and cqmatic. Is it a good choice?
I dont know if it's better to compress mpeg1 or mpeg2? I found that mpeg2 is more blur than mpeg1 in low resolution.

You're right geantsvert. Use MPEG-1 for low bitrates. It's better than MPEG-2.

hi everyone! i'll check this when i get home myself. i'm not at my computer that i was running this, but i was using the same resolution (352 x 480 plus latest template) with huffy. i got an average bit rate from moviestacker of 941 and started my cq at 60 under cqmatic 1.1.12a. i wasn't using any plugins. i tried this 3 times and everytime the cq was going into single digit numbers. thanks for such a great website

I removed the Divx and Mpeg4 codecs and rebooted but I'm sorry to say that the results were the same. The final encode had a CQ of 2.11

I'm still not convinced that CQMatic is the problem though but I am not sure what to try next. Perhaps I'll take a smaller Huffy sample and try it on my laptop since it has never had a Mpeg4 codec installed on it. I'll also try it on another machine with an MJPEG codec. (Just for fun.)

hay MrTibs pal,

Some questions, if I may..

* Version of TMPG ?? We use latest, v2.520

* All values in under TMPG's Environment Setting, VFAPI plug-in
...if you can list all your values [x] and un [ ] checked

The above may help us to help you. TMPG may be calling a different codec
or plugin.

here are my settings, which i think are probably identical to mrtibs. i ended up with a cq of 2.91 before i cancelled it last time:

all are checked and set to "0" except noted

avi2 (open dml)
bmp/ppm/...
cri sofdec mpeg decoder
microsoft mpeg decoder
wave file reader
tmpgenc project reader 2.520
directshow multimedia file reader (setting -1)
avi vfw compatibility reader (setting -2)

I wouldn't be surprised if this is a TMPGEnc/HuffYUV CODEC issue
Please make a test. After you load your source in TMPEG, go to "Source Range" and scroll all the way to the right. See if the time stamp matches the time of your captured video

Note, all my source testings were done w/ DVD rips. I have not yet tried
any .AVI 's from my ADVC-100 capture projects. That'll be my next CQM
testing phase.

Here is my setup listing, while I do not have any
issues as you's have for TMPG's Environmenta VFAPI plug-in:

All set to "0" 's
---------------------------------
[x] AVI VFW compatibility Reader
[x] AVI2(OpenDML) File Reader
[x] CRI Sofdec MPEG Decoder
[x] CyberLink MPEG-2 Decoder
[x] DirectShow Multimedia File Reader
[x] Microsoft MPEG-1 Decoder
[x] Wave File Reader
[x] Avisynth/VirtualDub script reader v0.1
[x] DVD2AVI project File Reader 1.76
[x] TMPGEnc Project File Reader 2.520

Other codec installs are:
* PowerDVD v3.0
* WinDVD v3.0
* and some odd 'n ends CODECs I can't retrace

Note, remember when settings these, that aftwards, you exit TMPG first,
so that you have TMPG default to your last known VFAPI setups, THEN
proceed to re-save as your .TPR file (in "text" format that is) ..why ?
because, if you only proceed to save as "text" for your CQM projects, then
the next time you use TMPG (for other probjects and things) you won't have
these settings. In time, or later on, you'll forget this fact, and bounce back
to your problems again

Oooh calcumatic is excellent! Any plans to make it display 0.57*avgbitrate? And if possible to determine the movie length time by the project file (kinda how moviestacker does it).

Yes to all your questions, and many more things
But I just released it as it is, so you can get a taste of it

How about giving calcumatic a Audio Stream multiplier button?
It's always nice to have your local sync and the original version on 1 cd...
and giving MiniKDVD users the ability to have 448 kbit/s AC3 Streams would also be nice

BTW:
Great work... can't belive how small this is

If you mean to add 448Kbps to the audio option, consider it done in 1.0.1 (later today)

I want to have 2 audio streams on a K(S)KVCD, so I have to calculate the double size for the audio...
2 times (German + English) 128 kbit/s instead of 1 time (only German audio)

Piece of cake
Next update will have a spin button (defaulting to 1), for number of audio channels

Hey Kwag ,don't know if something screwy is going on or not but didn't have any trouble with your first release of CaluMatic but on this version when i hit exit i'm getting

Quote:
Calcumatic has caused an error in KERNEL32.dll
Its no big deal because it still works just thought i would mention it.

Running ME ,i know its not very good but like i said it didn't happen on the first version

Thanx
