Yes, for VHS to DVD it is perfect, and the quality (considering the source) is very good. I use it myself also for VHS transfers :D

I'm sorry, but 8 movies on a dvd will look like poor VHS-tapes/crap.

With KDVD you can put up to three movies one 1 disc, preserving the dvd quality. Or, 2 movies preserving dvd quality and 5.1...

Have you read the available KVCD guides yet? It will give a good impression about the overall process. When you've got all your video and audio streams encoded, use dvdlabpro to author it.

I've just seen this post, I have worked with Camtasia Studio from Techsmith, to transfer Powerpoint presentations to DVD. Worked very well, and at high resolutions. Maybe you can give it try :D

In the beginning molevcd was using the kvcd notch matrix as far as I know. Now, I think the difference is that with KVCD the GOP is longer, but the matrix of mvcd filters more. Result is more or less...
