I know you now know this, but for the sake of posting (it is an FAQ, after all), the ideal way to convert/play VHS-C is with one of the metal CP7U-type (CP6U, etc) JVC/Panasonic adapters, and in a VCR known to work well with the VHS-C format.
- Lots of VCRs eat those tapes, so you have to be careful.
- Lots of plastic VHS-C adapters eat tapes, so be careful.
Panasonic AG-1980P and certain JVC Pro SR decks are known to work quite well with VHS-C and S-VHS-C tapes.
You actually new really want a VHS-C camera for anything.
