I have a ministry for which I want to mail out mini dvd discs. After a few minutes or hours the discs wont verify and report errors. I have tried 3 different dvd drives and purchased media from 3 different vendors. Why do the discs fail? Please help me. When I use standard size dvd media it works fine.

1. What specific drives are you using? Brand and model.
2. What specific blank discs are you using? Not just brand, but media ID.

Online links to either would be helpful. Let's try to get this sorted for you.

Hello, I do not understand the question completely.

I have burnt more than 15 distillers, CD, DVD, Blu-ray, RAM, HD DVD..., however, never small DVD.
Maybe you have not concluded the DVD session.

What registers DVDinfo.

If you want to burn or select only data.

Perhaps, this helps

I have used both imgburn and power2go to create the data discs. They both usually complete sucessfully and verify without errors. When I go back and run the imgburn verify later I start seeing sector errors and the disc become unusable. At this point I dont care about data recovery. I just want the discs to keep their integrity.
The same burning tools work perfectly with the full size dvd discs.

by mini dvd i mean the 8cm dvd-r

Yes, has properly understood, there is still other mini-DVD.
http://www.ebay.com/gds/Whats-the-di...1196702/g.html

I already never burn 20 years of DVD and DVD-RAM, however, on mini-DVD.

Question, why on mini-DVD, better the file of parts and on 2 CDs burn.
The protection layer on CD is much better than with DVD and Blu-ray.

Mailing on the smaller dvd media is simpler. Only one stamp. Also I need for the media to fit in the persons shirt pocket. They cant do that with the full size dvd. I have had great success with the verbatim full size DVD+R but they are too big. I need the 1.3 GB capacity as well for the teaching series. I have considered flash drives but the reliable ones cost close to $4.00 ea.

Rushes I have understood everything.

I would have to shop a few 8 cm of mini-DVD ruffians and try out.
After the burning do not forget the DVD with Lead out to conclude.

However, at the moment I have already finished no mini-DVD here only one mini-CD [8 cm].

what is with a small USB2 Embroidering... this would be even smaller or you make the mini-DVD copy protected?

i dont care about copy protect. i would just like to know of media and burner that would work. I have tried so many combinations that I am leery about another purchase. I was hoping someone has already done this for a data disc. Many have done the camcorder thing.

This is a typical problem.

MiniDVDs haven't been manufactured in probably 10 years now. Everything you find is "new old stock". The only makers of mini DVD-R were Ritek, Ricoh and CMC, from what I recall. And none of those discs were ever any good.

The problem is compounded by your drives.
- Matshita/Matsuhita (Panasonic) is terrible. Subtract "mat" and "a" from Matshita, and that's what the drive is.
- Slim drives, like that Asus and that Samsung, are terrible.

So you're burning known not-good media with a known not-good drive. It's not a good situation all around.

There's really nothing that can be done here. Either switch to a quality non-mini DVD-R like Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden, or to switch the drives to non-slim internal SATA/IDE drives from Pioneer. Then you'll be in business.

The data is also not "disappearing". It's simply a matter of the original marginal/bad burn not being read in a marginal/bad drive. (In addition to burning badly, those slim drives read badly as well.)

Thank you so much for your help. I wonder if pioneer makes a usb version of the non-slim drive you mentioned.

I like the idea of the internal pioneer drive. I will try that. Thanks again.
