I have about a dozen old VHS (PAL) tapes to digitize. I can either buy a VCR/DVD burner for example Panasonic DMR-EZ48V that dubs the VHS tape directly to a DVD, and then rip the DVD to my hard drive, or I can buy a digitizer such as Elgato video capture. I would prefer 720 x 576 if that is the original native size, rather than 640 x 480.

I am hoping for reasonable results but do not want to spend a fortune or spend weeks doing it. I am completely computer literate but not experienced with digitizing tapes.

Which option produces the best results please?
