I have the opportunity to pick up a working AG-1960 that seems to be in good shape.
I know the AG-1970 gets tons of negative love on here, but the AG-1960 gets barely a mention.
Is there any price you guys would pay for one or just avoid at all costs?

No, There is one for the AG-1980 but it's a horrible quality black & white photo copy.

AG-1980 best, but expensive, almost always needs refurb work these days (caps and more)
AG-1970 is less temperamental than 1980, yet still also often a money pit PITA
AG-1960 is the above, plus lack of TBC, meaning it's just really not worth it unless working. And it's rarely working, that model is about 30 years old now.
I've long had options to pick up 1960, and cheaply, but not worth using, not worth the hassle. If I want a good non-TBC deck, that's what JVC 2/3/4/5x00 models are for.

Yup, I figured as much.
I did pick them up ONLY because it was a set with two VCRs, the edit controller, a WJ-AVE5 and two CT-1382 monitors... but I'm sure the VCRs are going to be toast (at best).
thx for the feedback everyone!
