At work I found a Markertek catalog (a US-based broadcast supply house...still in business). At that time there was still an array of analog, SD and HD gear being sold. I scanned pages of interest to this group mostly for nostalgia, but also to discuss prices (Spolier: a SignVideo proc amp was more expensive than a TBC-1000).

I started working in broadcasting in the mid 2010s and a lot of the gear in this catalog was still in use then.

PS. Why was the JVC SR-MV55 $400 more than the SR-MV45? Did the former really have that many more features?

That was about the time DataVideo began to discontinue the "old black" TBC models. '08-09 was a rough time for gear pricing, at the height of the recession (GFC, great financial crisis).

I'll never understand why the Pixie was more expensive than anything else. Pricing was disconnected from product quality.

In 2026 dollars, looking at AV gear inflation (not general inflation), essentially 3x everything. Those are all early/mid 2000s products at EOL. So a new TBC-1000 would be about $1500 new. But toss in modern supply/demand, refurb costs, and we are where we are on pricing ($2K+).

I probably have this same catalog. I have tearsheets going back to the 90s. I plan to scan those this year.

Thanks for this post. Very neat to show others.
