Just found out that re-insterting tape not in the beginning, but a bit further fixes the problem, though it's not the best solution.

Does every vcr (with DIGITAL dropout compensation) turn off the feature when NR is enabled?
I attached a sample here where i'm flicking between 3d-dnr on and off.
Both features are very useful when...

Panasonic DMR-ES10 PAL brightness fluctuations?

I found a post in another website stating that the DMR-ES10 has brightness fluctuations and the way around it is by using the S-Video output by a scart adapter.

I have tried every port I could,...

The sample shows the problem perfectly. Loud sections don't have any issues, only the quiet parts, so from sound transitions to quiet parts...

@lordsmurf You mean the roller guides? I've tried adjusting those, but reverted the screw positions back, cause it just made the audio more crackly and the picture worse.
But, I hope you're talking...

Very interesting explanation, thanks, but yeah, it seems very complicated. Maybe if I had the tools and a spare vcr I'd try it.
Hopefully the edit mode doesn't break too, which'd be a big shame.

As I said those are stills from a paused tape, which adds a little more noise which doesn't happen as much in playback.
And there's no TBC on the NV-FS88, but turning on the TBC on...

I'm not talking about the noise, saying the colors just look worse with NR on, or EDIT turned off.
And tape isn't mistracking, the vcr just has a bit of noise on pause.

Worse colors with NR on NV-FS88 and NV-FS1000?

I'm wondering are the colors supposed to be worse with NR on, or is there a problem somewhere?
At least on FS88 you can turn on edit mode to fix the problem.
