That's the type of "60fps" I'm seeking! Unfortunately, it seems like this is impossible to replicate unless the source really does have that smooth motion. :depressed:

This is likely the case,...

This is what I observed as well. I don't consider myself close-minded so if there's a method to do 60 frames and not have it look unnatural and weird, I'm all for it. I've tried frame interpolation...

How/why capture 60 frames per second?

I mainly capture footage from VHS TV recordings from the early 2000s to the 80s. I'm 99.8% sure that the standard is 29.97 frames per second (or 59.94 fields per second) in NTSC. It's how I...

I have this since 2023. And yes, it has TBC-ish passthrough.

I haven't got the chance to compare it yet to my ES10, but I'd peg it at the same level as ES15 (assuming the EZ48 is the same, which I...

Hey thanks Tim! Sorry if I'm just quietly observing the discussion ongoing here.

But yeah, a clip of the same scene from the Panasonic would have been helpful. I've attached it here.

Ringing sound in audio?

Does anyone know what could be causing the buzzing in the background audio here?

It doesn't exactly drown out the sound and in low levels you can pretty much ignore it, but in moderately high...

Thanks! I also noticed that our very first VCR (an Omnivision too) had a manual playback speed selector upfront too. Unfortunately, eBay is littered with "for parts only" units.

This is...

Can you name some VCRs with manual playback selection? Can't really trust Google now with AI mucking up the search results.

For what it's worth, the guy said that he needed a super old VCR to be able to play them and check he's not giving something to me that he's not supposed to.

I never got the chance to have him...

Tape is clean. No visible molds, no flakes. But to be sure, I also ran all tapes through the VHS is Life cleaner twice. Same result.

VHS tape issues: chipmunk audio with static?

I received over a hundred tapes from someone whose late mom recorded in the 90s. Almost the entire batch are playable and then there's probably 30 or so tapes that have this issue.

I don't think...

That's an interesting looking TBC switch. First time I've seen that its two buttons like +/- functionality. Usually it's either a toggle switch with the Panny or just a simple button (for the JVC)...

^ I see, that makes sense. I think mine is just dimmer than what I've been seeing on some YT videos so maybe it could still be adjusted on the remote. But thanks again for the lead on the IR part!

I'm 99.999% certain now that it's not a remote control issue because the ES10 remote worked fine when I tested it on the EZ28 and ES18.

I strongly suspect it's a busted IR receiver.
