Hello,

Have anyone taken apart a vhs-c adapter (vw-tca7e) to clean/grease it?
I've got an original adapter that I guess came with an old video recorder. I've changed the battery but the motor seems very slow to stretch the band all the way.
So I guess it needs a bit care. But does it matter or will I just risk breaking it?

Once motors start to seize and slow down, they're done. Motors are a common fail point with Matsuhita (JVC/Panasonic), of which this is surely one.

The frustrating aspect here is that motors can be fine one day, and then in a failing state next time you go to use it. These rarely degrade gracefully, but sudden. As the motor weakens inside, it pushes itself to maintain. Then one day, it can't maintain.

If you're cat owner, it's somewhat the same. Cats hide illness until it's too late. So preventative care is so important.
