Toshiba DVD/VCR combo messing up tapes?

Hey all,

This Toshiba combo DVD and VCR player was working just fine but I put in a tape that might’ve had moisture on it and now it’s doing this (video attached)

Would love thoughts on how to fix!

Is it giving any error codes or "strange" displays when it fails loading?
Is it damaging the tape?

The bigger concern is this: is it worth fixing?

aka, What are you doing with it?

Because Toshiba doesn't make combo anything, it's all Funai rebranded/rebadged junk.
