I purchased a JVC HR-S9600EU late febuary 2025 from somebody on ebay for around £400 who bought it from "BroadcastStore" a "Professional Shop In Germany" who had serviced the player April 2020, Unfortunately after receipt of the SVHS player I wasn't able to test right away because I didn't have a TV with S-Video inputs and I didn't have a converter to HDMI but when I got around to testing it the Player had "Flag-Waving" at the top of the footage I talked with the seller who unfortunately didn't know anything about why this could be happening And after a couple days of searched I found out the term "Flag-Waving" which google claims can be caused by "Tape Backtension" or "Roller Guide Height Issues", I've now opened the lid and its obvious the Pinch Roller is screwed because on the rubber section it has an embossment all around the rubber cylinder near the top and also some black rubber residue around the metal roller. When comparing other parts to the diagrams on the service manual they look fine.

I had a look on eBay and a google search for a replacement Pinch Roller not only my specific model but generally JVC S-VHS Players and haven't found any results which is worrying and any videos of people replacing them usually mentions getting them from "A Donor Player" which is even more worrying because that means I'm out £400 with a nearly useless S-VHS player which looks worse than my Panasonic VHS DVD Combo Player EZ48V.

Thank you for the link! I'll take a look into it, I must have been looking too specific into the model number!

I'm just a bit scared of how I'll remove the rubber roller from the arm it sits on and how difficult it will be to remove.
I've seen this video: https://youtu.be/yG4cnh63cxg?si=kIXmwWX186XQjIu- which is a very similar model and looks essentially the same but he cuts the video at some points which worrys me of its difficulty.

It's easier than you think, You don't need to pull out the entire arm, Just remove the black plastic retainer marked with red arrow in the picture below with a pair of needle plyers or similar tool, pull the pinch roller out by hand, put in a new one, insert the plastic retainer until it bottoms out, Done.
