Best s-video connectors for DIY cables?

Hi, I'm interested in making my own cables. I bought a fair amount of Monster S-video cables thinking they were known quality (they made the best guitar cable I've ever used. Indestructible with a lifetime warranty.)

I'm looking for quality connectors that don't have the "death grip" issue. Preferably they would be easy to solder, but from the looks of it none of the S-video connectors look easier to solder, like some audio cables.

I found these on clearance at parts-express. I trust parts-express, and these have one positive review that just says they're very hard to solder. 385 left in stock @ 50 cents apiece. The clearance price is appealing. Has anyone had experience with these?

I'm from the audio world where making your own cables is routine. Redco.com is the go-to place for affordable cabling. They seem to have Mogami "SVHS" cable, and a finished Mogami cable, but no 4-pin mini din connectors are available on the website. Mogami is known for very high quality in the Pro Audio world.

I'm open to high quality connectors as well, I enjoy connectors that are visibly high quality, even though that is less important than function. It would be nice if there were a few options for known quality and no apparent issues. (like the aforementioned grip.)

I'm also interested in patch panel connectors, as I plan to build a patch panel down the road, but this is a while down the road. I see Switchcraft makes some, but the ones I found seemed ridiculously priced, even though they were on "clearance." Switchcraft is also known for extremely high quality in the Pro Audio world.

I personally like the Extron S-Video to BNC adapters. From there, you can use two BNC to BNC 75 ohm cables of any length to connect two of those together. With the Extron cables, you can be sure they used high quality 75 ohm double shielded cable. https://www.ebay.com/itm/155090343279. The main downside is that the BNC connectors do add some weight which can pull on the S-Video connector a bit, but you should be able to support the cable with something for it to rest on if there seems to be too much weight on it.

Thanks so much for the information. That sounds like a great solution, as it's much easier to get a high quality BNC cable. I'll probably still want to make my own S-Video cables for some connections though, definitely for the patch panel.

I'm learning a lot from many of your other posts as well, so thanks for that as well. I hope to stay here and continue learning.

The issue is always BNC header quality, most suck.

Those clearance video cables look good to me, visually at least. 50 cents each, $10 shipping. Get 10 or more. This is a no-brainer. Worse case is you wasted $20. I've made vastly more costly mistakes. You can always use bad cables to tie up yard tools, or whatever. So not pure loss. We recently used extra coax cable to tie back a tree branch that was growing weird.
