This is video of what happens when Eject is pushed. https://www.reddit.com/r/VCRs/commen..._doesnt_eject/
Is there a way to fix this or at least salvage the tape?

The squealing sound suggests a slipping belt but that doesnt explain why it is slipping.

If the aim is just to safely eject the cassette, sometimes standing the deck on its edge, say its left edge, and pressing Eject can work. This is because in the normal position the deck is trying to lift the full weight of the cassette and tape. On its edge may make it easier for the deck to eject the cassette. No guarantees, just a suggestion.

That actually worked, thanks! Got the tape out.

How would I check the belt? I understand it's under the chassis. But I don't know what screws to remove to take the chassis out of the VCR case. Attached photos of the interior and the underside of the VCR.
