Hi guys! I was fixing the K mechanism of my AG-1980 and the MS (Mode Switch) just needed a little cleaning and the deck started working again. And the thing is, I couldn't open the MS entirely, so I just rotated it with some pressure to try and clean the contacts. But I saw some MS that can be opened so they can be cleaned properly, so I ask if any of you know if the VSS0365 (the MS being used on the AG-1980) can be opened too? I was afraid of it breaking while I tried to open it so I didn't go further with it.

Some images for reference:

Thanks!

No, they can't be opened and resealed. What I do is as follows:

Remove (as you have done)
Saturate with 100% De-Oxit and leave for a few hours
Rotate the switch back and forth and then blast out the excess with canned air
Wipe the switch over and re-install

The De-Oxit is kind to plastic and will keep the inside tarnish free.

Make sure you reference the mechanism and switch points before removing though!
