I am trying to get an AIW 9600 setup on a clean Windows XP Pro SP3 install. The graphics driver installs without any problems but several other devices have a yellow bang in Device Manager with Code 10 device cannot start. The drivers were installed using install disc 180_V01106_100, which appears to install driver version 6.14.10.6534 for the graphics and 6.14.10.6312 for the AIW devices that cannot start. I also get a warning after logging in indicating that there is a conflict with the driver and graphics card BIOS. Following some information in other threads I found, I tried installing "9-7_xp32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu" and "6-11-pre-r300_xp-2k_dd_ccc_wdm_38185" after uninstalling all the ATI software and stripping out drivers with DDU, but both of those packages say something to the effect that the graphics driver can't be found and will not proceed to install. I have since reinstalled the driver and software from the 180_V01106_100 disc, but still have this problem.

WDM isn't installing, so don't uninstall the base graphics drivers.

Which 9600 is this:
- ATI All-in-Wonder 9600
- AIW 9600 XT
- AIW 9600 Pro

Where did that ISO come from? It may be named wrong.

Or is it the actual disc? And in that case, the wrong disc may have come with the card -- unless it was sealed, nothing tampered with.

Hi, thanks for responding. It is an AIW 9600, not XT or Pro, P/N 102A2250301. The card was purchased from Ebay and came with a copied disc, so very well could be the wrong one.

Hi, don't mean to nag, but just checking to see if you could provide input on the correct driver package to use. I appreciate your assistance!

I have the ATI AIW 9600XT. I found that WindowsXP SP3 was a problem. When I reinstalled the computer with WindowsXP SP2, Windows found my ATI and I didn't need to install any new drivers for it to work.

Ah, good catch, SP3 is a known problem. SP2 is best for official, or Integral Edition for unofficial.

Did a clean install with XP SP2 (I still had an SP2 disk laying around!), but still can't find a WDM driver that works. I downloaded the 2001-2005 ATI driver collection from archive.org and so far I have tried these and none have worked:
5_9_xp_2k_dd_cp_wdm_26409
5-13_xp-2k_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_29124
6-2_wme_dd_cp_30314
6-11-pre-r300_xp-2k_dd_ccc_wdm_38185

Still no luck getting a workling WDM driver for this card.

I tried starting with a clean slate by deleting the ATI .inf and .pnf files from C:\Windows\INF and all the ATI related files in C:\Windows\System32, including the built-in Microsoft drivers, which started me back at ground 0 with all unknown devices. I then tried installing the driver packages from the 180-V01084-100 CD in the AIW hacks thread, but that didn't work. I uninstalled everything ATI and deleted all the INF and driver files from the Windows INF and System32 directories and tried again, using the 6168 package and then 180-V01106-100 disc and neither of those worked.

Brookcom,
I have a 9600 (not Pro or XT) that I bought new-in-box from Ebay a year or so ago. I'm just now getting around to setting up my workflow and have recently installed the Catalyst software from the disc on my fresh install of XP PRO SP2 (32bit). On the "options" tab under the "Plug and Play Monitor and ALL-IN-WONDER 9600 SERIES" properties it says Catalyst Version 04.1, 2D Version 6.14.10.6414 and Packaging Version 7.97-031212a-013245C ATI.
On the front of the physical disc it says 180-V01085-100. (maybe one of the regulars here knows what that number is for?.)
The software installed fine and I am up-and-running doing captures in VDub1.9.

If you'd like, I can ISO this up and send it along.

I have downloaded every driver package I can find and haven't come across that one yet. If you could upload an ISO I would really appreciate it.

Brookcom,
Here is the ISO image RAR'd. There is a picture of the physical disc in the first file. When the RAR file is combined, windows explorer shows the file size as 666,622 KB.

Admins...Please add this ISO to the DigitalFAQ archives or move this where you see fit. I hope this not only helps Brookcom but anyone else who may need this disc.

Cheers,
Scott

Quick note:
Don't be confused by the picture of the disc. It says in that top box "100 + DVD" the physical disc is a CDRom which you can see the logo below those 3 boxes. So be sure to burn the ISO on a CDRom.

Scott

Thanks, you're awesome! I will be giving this a try today.

I'm starting to think I might have a bad card. I tried the driver from your ISO and same result, then did a clean reinstall of XP SP2 and still not loading the WDM drivers. Did you do naything other than run the install from the CD's autorun menu?

Brookcom,
No. Unfortunately, I didn't do anything special. I chose the defaults all the way through the install. It installed all the extra stuff that is not needed but it didn't hurt anything either.
Man...I wish I had some answers for you. Keep us posted on your progress.

I tried Integral Edition and that led to the same problems as SP3. Maybe I didn't pick the correct version of the Integral Edition as there appear to be a few versions at the archive.

I think I might just have a bad card. I started over with another computer with a different motherboard and a clean install of XP SP2. The built in Microsoft drivers worked for the graphics, but not the WDM drivers. Following results from another thread I tried uninstalling/reinstalling the WDM devices keeping the MS drivers, but that did not work. I then tried every WDM driver package I could find and still no joy. I'm sending the card back to the eBay seller for an exchange. He is also going to test the card on his machine to see if it works and get me the exact driver version his system is using.
