My trusty Panasonic DMR-ES10 would no longer turn on so I purchased another one.

All the connections are the same, I have a Panasonic NV-FJ600 & a USB Live-2

I have turned off NR in the settings but I can't figure out why I'm getting muffled sound as it's connected exactly the same.

Is there a sound setting I should changer or any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I have attached a 10 second video.

Somebody mentioned I could try to Bypass the ES10 for audio. Directly connect the audio from the VCR to the USB-live2. You may have to adjust the delay (A/V sync) in post.

My connections are as follows which worked on my old ES10

At the rear of the ES10 left hand side which is (AV4 In) I have the yellow, white and red component cables running to my VCR yellow video and white audio.

At the rear of the ES10 right hand side (Out) I have the yellow, white & red component cables connected to my Hauppage USB Live-2.

I'm wordering if there is a sound issue with the ES10 I just bought or if anyone has had this issue before
Thank you

Yes bad sound. Not so much muffled as terrible added distortion although amounting to the same thing. As a tech I'm guessing failed capacitors somewhere in the audio stages.

Yes you could bypass the audio and then delay it to sync with the picture. Someone may even know exactly how much to delay the audio for the ES10. The same delay period can be used for each and every transfer. Some of us who use certain TBC's with no audio stages have to do this anyway as these TBC's delay the picture a few frames.

Thank you for your reply.
If someone could explain to me how to bypass the audio then delay to sync it would be highly appreciated.
I obviously purchased a lemon, good working order obviously meant it turned on.

Just connect you vcr red and white audio direct to the USB live.

Thank you again.
At the rear of the ES10 left hand side which is (AV4 In) I have the yellow, white and red component cables running to my VCR yellow video and white audio.

At the rear of the ES10 right hand side (Out) I have the yellow, white & red component cables connected to my Hauppage USB Live-2.
I unplugged the red & white cables that run from the right hand side of the ES10 to the VCR & unplugged the red & white from the USB live & connected them to my VCR but that leaves 2 loose red & white cables & I have no sound.
I'm obviously doing something wrong if you could please explain it again
Thank you
