I've seen it brought up a couple times but no real definitive answer if the ATI AIW captures VHS better than LHi. I think LS mentioned that AIW was the best made for VHS capture but has anyone done any comparasons? What makes the AIW better for VHS capture than an AJA LHi/e? Back in the day it was cost prohivitive but now you can garb the LHi and run it on a modern system for around $100 second hand. Is AIW > LHi/e settled agreed on fact?

Maybe LS can chime in with some details / depth on why the AIW is better than a more modern LHi/e?

Thoughts?

I have no comparison to share. From what I’ve read, AJA is excellent. It captures in uncompressed so will need more HDD space. While AJA was designed for broadcast quality footage, I haven’t read that it struggles with consumer VHS or home movies. Bottom line, if I found one for $50 to $100, with the breakout cable, I would definitely buy it.
