How to use broadcast frame TBC?

I recently bought a broadcast Frame TBC so I would stop getting frame drops, but I'm not quite sure what I'm doing at all.

The model is a For.A UFM-128FS

"TBC" is wide term, and can mean many things.

What you bought was a broadcast item, for use in a broadcast appliance, intended for broadcast sources. It was not made for consumer formats like VHS and Hi8. It's not for home users.

Return it. You made a mistake.

And you most likely made that mistake in the misguided attempt to save money, because the suggested TBCs (made for consumer sources) were "too expensive". What you bought was cheap for a reason.

Note that I, and several others, have the TBCs needed, in this site's marketplace subforum.

Looked into this, guess this module came out in 2005 and you could buy it at B&H Video for around $1700 in 2010.

As stated in the description "The For.A UFM-128FS is a frame sync and TBC module for a UFM module frame. This module processes analog composite video."

Looks like what this is like the board itself, it's meant to go into a case like this inside a compatible frame.

So you basically bought a TBC circuit board with no case to put it in so.. really what can you even do with it?

Yeah idk what I was thinking, dumbass move on my part, I was desperate and there's like no info about these things online. Thank God I can return it.

That's how I feel about most things these days.

Rest assured, once you actually get the proper frame TBC, it's extremely easy.

Many don't even have settings, and are simply wired to s-video/composite and power. These are the best ones for new users, essentially "magic boxes", and no input from you is required. These simply do the task of preventing dropped frames, and preventing audio sync issues.

I actually have a unit that I recently refurbished, PM me about it. Due to gear aging, I don't often get quality proper-functioning TBCs anymore.
