I was browsing some japanese auctions and came over a TBC from Imagenics, it had a reasonable price so I sent a bid and won it.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with them? I can't seem to find any english information on their TBCs, or on the brand for that matter. From what I understand its a japanese brand that only sells domestically.

The model I bought is:
Imagenics FS-1000 "TBC & FRAME SYNCHRONIZER"

From reading a bit on this forum I've learned I shouldn't get rack mounted broadcasting/professional TBCs, as they don't handle consumer tapes well. As this isn't rack mounted, I assume it's closer to the TBCs that are recommended for digitizing VHS tapes?

I'm planning on pairing it with a Panasonic NV-HS1000 and a Startech SVID2USB232 capture card

I've uploaded pictures of the TBC to the post

Interesting. That looks like the FA-125 in a squat depth case. It may be a rebadge.

You wrote "Startech SVID2USB232", but that isn't a model.
Which is it?
- Startech SVID2USB2 = good
- Startech SVID2USB23 = meh

No idea, it says SVID2USB232 on the box and the dongle
The EAN is 065030875547
I seem to remember searching for it on the forum before I bought it, and that you had answered in a thread about it -- but I can't seem to find the post now, so I might be misremembering.

Crossing my fingers that the TBC will work well then!

Something I didn't think about was if the machine is NTSC or PAL. I'm in Europe so my tapes are mainly PAL. So that might be an issue..

You're right, SVID2USB232. If the datasheet is to be trusted, it's a generic "grabber" using eMPIA video/audio + bridge chips. So again, "meh". At least it's not an Easycap or Elgato.
