I guess these have to be bought from the US. How would I plug this into UK wall socket? Would it be just a case of buying a travel adapter or is there a need to convert to US power ratings?

Thanks

Oh, ok, am I looking at the wrong item:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ATI-TV-Won...item416e4b6db7

It says it's missing an AC adapter. Is there a different type of ATI 650 USB?

I believe this one does require an AC, you may be better off going with a USB solution. It really comes down to what you are capturing. I have used a Pinnacle 801e for VHS capture with Virtualdub with good results.

As long as you are capturing SD, no problems with going with USB 2.0 or higher.

hmm- never seen on of those....
look for an ATI600USB - the 600 chipset is better than the 650 and is powered by the USB port

Yeah, I was going for s-video to usb and from reading these forums it was recommended to go for the ATI 600 USB or ATI 650 USB. The ATI 650 USB seems more prevalent. Couldn't see the Pinnacle 801e at all (on ebay)

Mine has S-Video, 3.5mm headphone jack in, and RCA video in. I haven't used the ATI so I can't compare them but I'll sell you mine for cheap if you want it.

Not sure if BH will ship to the UK but they are very good.
