Howdy,
As a hobby, I collect old VHS tapes with TV programs and commercials from the 80's and 90's. I'm fairly new to transferring analog video to digital, but have learned a bit from this site and other online resources. My current workflow looks like this:
Panasonic AG-1980 (TBC enabled) > KeyWest Big Voodoo TBC > Elgato USB capture device > PC
I am interested in Betamax. I was wondering if my AG 1980 TBC works on sources added to its' VCR input, such as a Betamax player?
I tried searching for this question, but didn't find it. Perhaps I'm not wording the question correctly, but I'm sure this is probably an easy question for many of you.
Thanks -Dave

Nope, the VCR is only good for VHS or S-VHS inside the unit. It does not work as pass-through for inputs.

Ahh, very good. Guess I'll have to make due with a single dedicated TBC on the betamax. Thanks for the help!

that is another thing that really sucks about beta is they never made any good TBC equipped decks.
the best you can hope for is to find of the very few Beta decks with S-video out and use an external tbc.

Yeah, I haven't been able to find anything decently affordable for the later Sony beta decks that have s-video. Prices have been 500-1700! Crazy. I was planning to use the RCA composite to a coaxial adapter for the video in/out on my external TBC: http://tinyurl.com/m5r7yv5 . I'm not sure if that will work though.

you should not use coaxial (RF) .
what model BVTBC are you using? - the original BVTBC is kinda shitty - the BVTBC8 and BVTBC10 are ok.
you should be able to use all composite with those using some composite to BNC adpaters.
the only S-Video Betas are the Beta-ED models and the SL-HF2100

I was planning on using BNC Male Plug to RCA Female RF Coaxial Connector for CCTV Video. I'm not sure what connectors are in the back of my VooDoo...I thought they were the CCTV RF connecotrs
I have the BVTBC8. Works great when stacked with my AG 1980, no issues at all. I got it for a steal on Amazon for $20, free shipping. When I received it, it was in the original packaging and the ac adapter was new in the box, as well as the TBC...weird that it wasn't used. Can't beat $20 bucks!

a BVTBC8 has BNC connectors on the back which are composite. - they are not RF coaxial
so all you need is a couple BNC to RCA adapters.
