I would be grateful if anyone could please tell me if this screenshot is the correct setting on the Avisynth install. Choose Component>Select Association. Or should the "Add Avisynth Script to New Items menu" box be ticked?

Do whatever you prefer, not important. I normally use notepad to open avs files for editing. For playng you can also use WMP, and thus the proposed association. You can always change the settings later

Thanks lollo2. Yes I am going to use notepad. I will leave "Add Avisynth Script to New Items menu" box be unticked.
