So I posted last month that my Dad passed, and I was frantically trying to cobble together some memorial videos. The project was a success, and I was pleased with the results...although they were kind of large.

My sister engaged a professional videographer who took my tribute videos, along with original footage he filmed at the funeral, and edited them down into a highlights video. It's beautiful. I couldn't ask for better work (save for one minor typo which I'm sure he'll fix tomorrow, now that I've pointed it out). It's also a monster. Five minutes...3.8 GB. And that's not a typo...

Obviously I need to recompress it. In the past I've used HandBrake; I'm comfortable with it and it remains a possibility. But I understand that there are other and potentially better alternatives. What might they be? (The file is in .MOV format)

You need to compress it with Hybrid, but with non-default settings for best quality.

If you want to upload it somewhere, I can compress it down to a shareable size for you.

Be sure to retain the original footage.

Also, my condolences. When you posts this last month, I did run some tests on a clip, to both show you what can be done, and to attempt preserving it better than you probably imagined. This was just a quick run, there are still errors that could be address (chroma flicker needs KNLmeansCL work). And a final matte to cover edges on sections. That is attached for you.

I really like that you can see your proud papa, without all the camera shake. He's so happy there.

I will be a first-time user of Hybrid.

Do you have any suggested settings to try?
