I'm trying to encode my DVDs of the tv show Babylon 5. According to DVD2AVI, the source is NTSC Interlaced, 29.97fps. The video has mixed CGI and live action, and when stepping through frame by frame I notice that the CGI material is truly 29.97fps (i.e. a different image for each frame), but the live action material is interlaced. At least I think it is, I'm a bit unsure if I'm using the right terminology! When stepping through frame-by-frame, the live action shots have 3 frames of moving material followed by 2 frames of interlaced/combed material.

My question to you all is: using the latest avs 2.52 script, what lines should I include (if any) to encode this material correctly? Do I need to Force Film, or Decomb, or what? And can I do any of this using Moviestacker to make life easier for me?

Thanks a million guys!!!

Just as a test I did a short encode without using any deinterlacing. The CG moments looked beautiful but the live action shots had visible combing, especially when people walked across the screen (not as visible when people are static). So is there a filter I can use to fix the interlacing in the live action shots without any affect on the CG scenes?
