Hello everyone. On my Sony DHR 1000 vcr dv (PAL version) I'm having a strange problem: from all the analog inputs (scart/yc/front and rear rca pins) it doesn't record any video stream (on the tape it only records a gray screen) but only the stereo audio. The strange thing is that in passband (that is, by simply passing an audio-video signal from any analog input) images and sound pass regularly. From the firewire input, on the other hand, the audio-video signal is perfectly recorded on the tape. In practice I can only use my DHR 1000 to record from dv input; if I select any analog input (Line 1/2/3/4) on the connected monitor I see and hear regular picture and sound but, when recording, I only etch the sound on a gray screen. Has anyone had the same problem and if so, how did you solve it? What could cause this failure? Thank you all.

What are the details of your analog input signal, both the source and type of video? Connections to the DHR-1000?

Is the Line 1/2 S/NORM menu setting correct for your connections?

Hello dpalomaki. Unfortunately my DHR 1000 behaves like this from any rear or front analog input (normal or s), including the two scarts, and it is useless to change the type of source (normal or s) in the menu. The only input from which it records both audio and video to tape is the firewire (IEEE1394) input. The strange thing is that, on the other hand, in solo play the audio/video signals come out regularly everywhere. Obviously the analogue input signals are all "stable" (tibicized) and coming from VHS/S-VHS sources or other DV recorders.

What specific analog sources have you tried to record; i.e., what is the equipment you have connected to the DHR1000 and what is the program material

I tried two different solutions: in the first I connected the DHR 1000's analog in/out to a Sony SB V 3000 matrix to copy theatrical comedy (self-produced) videotapes from the other VHS or S-VHS sources; in the second one I connected the analog outputs of a Sony DCR-VX2100 camcorder to the front inputs (line 2 in) of the DHR 1000 to transfer a dv recording made with the same camera. In both cases audio recorded correctly but video blank.
