Test cassettes and other calibration equipment will not give you result you need if you are not familiar with particular VCR model. Each has it's own signature. For example - Panasonic NV-FS200 has excellent G2 mechanism and good TBC, picture is closest to JVC from all Panasonic. NV-HS1000 is good, with K mechanism, but is a bit sharper. NV-HS950 is very sharp, but it does not mean it is bad - there are SVHS tapes what are reproduced excellent. So they all are different. You can buy a reference VCR from vcrshop, calibrate your similar VCRs and then sell it for the same price. I believe I will sell 7722 soon, because I do not need it any more, I have 2 exactly the same 7711. I recapped 7722 PS, because vcrshop do not recap them. And bought remote separately because it came without it.
