I have a few issues with a JVC SR-V10U VCR I bought, but I do not know if it is a tape issue or a vcr issue.

1) I have had two tapes where the film snapped off one wheel when I rewound the tape. I had to take the tape apart and splice it back to the wheel.

More of an issue:

2) The tape randomly starts playing too fast or sometimes in full fast forward. It may go 15 minutes and play perfectly, or it may start immediately. If I pause and restart it plays fine (until the next random speedup). I have captured around 15 tapes with none of these issue. Now they happen with every tape I try.

Are these tape issues or a VCR issue? If this is a VCR issue, can I fix it myself (i.e. clean something)? Or do I need to send it somewhere for repair?

Thanks
