Hi all,

I wanted to check in on a detail regarding the "classic" series cards (listed here, pasted below); as there are so many variations, I didn't want to make a purchasing error before I started.

On the list below, I see the ATI All-in-Wonder X800 VE (AGP 8x). Whilst I haven't located that specific card, I have found a ATI All-in-Wonder X800 XL (AGP), which apparently still uses the Theatre 200 chipset, but is a slightly higher end model?

Would this model variation also be considered one of the classic series cards? Safe to buy for use in the workflow listed on the site (XP / Virtual Dub)?

Sub-question: Do I need to worry about its provenance (e.g. NTSC vs PAL/SECAM)? All my tapes are NTSC and I live in France, so just wanted to make sure I didn't need to source an NTSC version.

Thanks in advance!

Looking around it appears that Lord Smurf might have answered this here, but a confirmation would still be good if possible! Also on the NTSC question

The 550 cards are not better, no. Different chipsets and software is involved.

Just remember that Windows XP is required. So a build specifically for capture is ideal. Get a good dual-core, quad-core, or even single-core, using AGP, PCIe or PCI ATI AIW cards. Save modern editing/web/etc for a new Win7+ build.
